    I work for a fraud detection agency and I see so many people getting fraud on their credit and debit cards.

    Call centers abroad have many unscrupulous or disgruntled employees that print client’s info and sell it on the black market. I was approached by a peddler on the streets of a Caribbean island selling me info for 50 people for less than 80 usd; from what I gathered, these folks purchased pharmaceuticals either over the phone or through the net. For avid readers, purchase Frank Abagnale’s book titled THE ART OF THE STEAL.

    I didn’t know that not signing your card voids the agreement. My signatures keep getting rubbed off in my wallet and store clerks rarely catch it. When they do, I just sign it right there and they let me make my purchase. If the signature is the credit card company’s primary fraud prevention, they should make it so it can’t be erased.

    So what? The merchant will pay that money back for not checking ID. A quick call to your credit card co. and a chargeback will fix it. Retailers who don’t check ID WILL pay it back later.

    @Mark A
    Wrong! It is the card company that eats the loss, not the store or the card holder.

    lol did the news show keep all of the goods?

    The stores don’t care who buys their stuff as long as they get their money.

    Lucky she didn’t do this in Atlanta. Here you use someone’s credit card, even if you have permission, and you automatically go to jail unless you can prove on the spot you are related to that person personally or professionally.

    Stores should be liable for at least part of the fraud. I’m sure they would then check signatures and IDs more carefully. This would reduce fraud and save everyone money since the credit card companies pass on the cost to us.

    Pretty good video, thanks for sharing. As said ‘Crystal’, they wold check sign. and IDs carefully

    It is amazing how few stores check id now. In the past, I would always be asked for my Id, now hardly ever. Now there are even all of places that don’t even need a signed reciept anymore, just swipe and go. Convenient yet dangerous.

    While card fraud from stolen cards and lack of signature checking is bad, what I want to know is how on earth someone uses your card details in this age of chip and pin machines!

    Had someone use my card details twice – I always cover my pin, I never leave my card around and don’t sign for things – how on earth do they do it!?
